Luna

Hi! My Name Is Luna

We're happy to tell you that Luna has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

A couple of weeks ago we took Luna on a day trip around the Laurel Highlands (PA) to give her a break from kennel life. You see, Luna hasn't had the best life. She was found as a stray back in 2016 and picked up by animal control. When she was at risk for euthanasia we decided to foster her without ever meeting her, not knowing anything about her except that she might die without our help. We then found out that she had cancer & she had 14 mast cell cancer lumps removed. While she was being fostered by us, we fell in love with her goofy ways, but unfortunately she wasn't a fan of our resident dogs so she had to be kept separate a lot of the time. After living with us for about 6 months she started showing signs of depression despite daily walks, lots of love & snuggles & alternating nights in our bed with us. We pleaded for someone to adopt her because we couldn't give her the home she so deserved. After 9 months with us, someone eventually did & she lived with them for a little over a year, adored their little girl, & worshipped her humans. But due to an incident with their cat, Luna was returned to the rescue in January 2019 & since no foster homes are currently available she has to live in a boarding facility. We visit her every weekend & she seems really happy when we are there but the staff told us that she is becoming more & more hesitant to go back into her kennel after being out. After 8 months of boarding, with no one showing interest in her, we are all starting to lose hope. She never deserved to be a stray, never deserved to lose God knows how many families & certainly doesn't deserve to live out the rest of her life in a kennel. She is a 7-8 y.o. beautiful 100% Staffordshire Terrier, with a heart so full of love for children, a dedicated soul who is silly, clumsy & waiting ever so patiently for a FOREVER home. She does have to be an only pet though. Please share Luna. It only takes a second. On this day, we walked around Ligoneer, hiked in Linn Run State Park, ate a picnic lunch, went to the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site, had coffee & met lots of people. She did great & probably slept for days unphased by her 24/7 kennel life.
